My very first beach getaway!

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is a Mexican city on the Yucatan Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea. While there, I stayed at the beautiful and exceptional Grand Park Royal Cancun Resort.

Escaping the frozen winter is a way to make it to Spring. My first ever trip "Down South" was to Mexico and it stole a piece of my heart. The sugary white sand beaches, hot sun and unlimited drinks are just what the cold winters call for. Long days spent in the sun and on the water relaxing with short excursions to pass the time.

While in Cancun, I got the opportunity to travel for a day to the Mayan Ruins to Chichen Itza which is just under 2 hours from Cancun. It is one of many important archaeological sites in Mexico. While there, I got to meet some locals and visit a nearby town to delve into real Mexican culture, cuisine and local music.

To be honest I really think that is where I caught the "travel bug". Being from a small town I loved seeing the different culture and could not wait to get back home and plan trips to see MORE and not just the ordinary beach vacation. With that a world traveler was born, who has since upgraded her camera skills!
